Out of the passion of two physicians and with the direction of a Hospital Administrator, the Windsor was established 46 years ago as the first designed skilled nursing center in Stark County. Through the vision of W. Phillip McConnell, founder and original administrator, Windsor has become a standard in long term care. Since our inception, six individual building additions have taken place. Stark County is a community blessed with optimal opportunities and the convenience of hospitals and extensive medical services only a few miles from the facility.
Accommodations, amenities and services are one of the first things people searching for a long-term care facility look for. However, pinnacle in your investigation of the options available to you and your loved ones should be the care offered. Often overlooked, the staffing ratio of a facility is the single most important fact in making care choices for you or your loved ones. This ratio tells the number of staff to the number of residents in a facility. Specific ratios of importance are the ratios of: S.T.N.A.'s (State Tested Nurse Assistants) per resident, the ratio of L.P.N.'s (Licensed Practical Nurses) per resident, and finally R.N's (Registered Nurses) per resident. When visiting facilities be sure to ask for these ratios and compare them among facilities, this is the true indicator of what type of service you will receive.

"The Colonies" our assisted living facility was built on a nursing model in order to allow us to offer more advanced nursing services to our residents. These advanced nursing services allow "the Colonies" residents the freedom to maintain a more autonomous lifestyle longer.
Multiple Levels of Care on one Campus
Offering both Assisted Living care as well as Skilled Nursing care the Windsor is able to accommodate transfers from one level of care to another with as little disruption in our residents lives as possible. This transition can be a particularly difficult one and we find that our residents benefit tremendously from their ability to maintain close contact with their "friends" and "neighbors" at the Windsor.
