Gaymont is family owned and operated, which includes a family approach to everything we do. The facility is nicely decorated with many dining and living room areas.
Philosophy

Our philosophy of care is based on caring. We ask that everyone who comes into our building be willing to invest in relationships. If you are here to work, to visit a friend or to deliver the mail we ask that you open your eyes to the possibility of caring for others. We take better care of those that we care about, whether it is a resident or a fellow co-worker caring is the key.
Mission

Our mission is to provide relationship based personal care. That is to employ staff who value relationships, are trained in the field and demonstrate a willingness to give of themselves resulting in excellent care.

Nursing

The nursing staff consists of State Tested Nursing Assistants, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Registered Nurses. These layers of nursing work together to create the best possible care.

The entire facility is overseen by Erin Dotson, the Director of Nursing, who has 15 years experience in healthcare. Erin got her start in healthcare as a pharmacy technician in the United States Air Force. She obtained her LPN license in 1993 from Central School of Practical Nursing in Cleveland, Ohio. She went on to obtain her Associates Degree in Nursing from Regent's College in New York and her Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan.

Richard Evans functions as the Medicare Specialist and MDS Coordinator. He has 16 years experience in healthcare. He originally intended to pursue a degree in social work, however, after becoming a State Tested Nursing Assistant he knew that his place was in nursing. He obtained his LPN license from North Central Technical College in 1994 and obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing from North Central State in 2001. He holds current certification as a Certified Resident Assessment Coordinator.

Each nursing unit is overseen by a Care Coordinator. These positions are held by nurses (RN or LPN) who possess leadership qualities, such as confident decision making skills, organizational skills, clinical proficiency based on current best practices, a spirit for education and a love for the elderly.

The front line staff consists of LPN's, RN's and STNA's who truly long to have a relationship with the people they care for. They must all possess current licensure or certification in their field. They spend the larger part of their day interacting with the residents and their families.

All nursing staff are required by the facility to participate in ongoing education programs. We have a strong value for education, which is evident in the hours that are dedicated to formal education, skills labs and CPR training.

Therapy

Gaymont is proud to offer extensive therapy and rehabilitation services in our Transitional Care Unit (TCU). Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapists and assistants are available 7 days a week. Our Therapy Gym is more than you would expect from the average skilled nursing facility. We have over $10,000 dollars invested in therapy equipment alone and are constantly adding to our inventory. Our total therapy area is 1150 square feet.

Unlike other nursing homes, we do not share our therapy area with other departments for activities or meals: our therapy gym is a place to get back in shape and get back home. In our TCU, our goal is to help you achieve your goals. If you want to be able to do all the things (and more) that you did before your accident or surgery, great! We will work with you on those tasks to ensure your success after you leave us. When needed, our therapists will go to your home, prior to discharge, to make sure your environment is free of obstacles to your recovery and suggest any assistive devices you might benefit from.

Our TCU is separate from our long-term care wings and is truly a place of healing and strengthening. Our staff loving refers to it as our "Return to Home" wing. The dedicated staff that works there is committed to your recovery and restoration. They hate to say "good-bye" to their patients, but love to watch them leave - knowing they are going home to the people and activities that make their lives full.

Dietary

Our dietary department is led by Sandy Ering, Registered Dietician who has partnered with Gaymont for over 20 years. She works closely with our Ancillary Services director to ensure proper nutritional considerations are taken.

The Ancillary Services director, Sandy Proctor, is a certified dietary manager which she obtained from Auburn University in 2001. She is also certified in food protection through the dietary managers association.

The dietary shifts are led by the cook position, who are trained in a "Person in Charge" course provided by the State of Ohio. This allows them to make necessary decisions in the absence of the dietary manager regarding nutrition, staffing and resident concerns.

The dietary department takes pride in the meals they prepare and serve to the staff and residents. They "cook with love" and have been accused of solving all the problems of the world with food.
